BARDAN Fire Impregnation
Endothermic Char Barrier — Complete Combustion Inhibition

Advanced chemical impregnation technology that triggers the formation of a dense, endothermic carbonaceous char barrier — providing complete combustion inhibition of wood panels, natural fabrics, and paper products.

How BARDAN Works — Endothermic Carbonaceous Char Formation

When a BARDAN-treated material is exposed to fire, the impregnated chemicals trigger a controlled endothermic reaction — actively absorbing heat energy from the fire while simultaneously forming a dense, insulating carbonaceous char layer on the surface. This char barrier:

  • Absorbs heat — The endothermic reaction consumes thermal energy, cooling the material surface
  • Blocks oxygen — The dense char layer creates an impermeable barrier preventing oxygen reaching combustible material
  • Prevents flame spread — Combined heat absorption and oxygen exclusion achieve complete combustion inhibition
  • Maintains structural integrity — The char layer supports the panel structure during fire exposure, preventing collapse

BARDAN-treated SDB panels are tested to BS 476 (Parts 6, 7, and 22) and achieve fire door performance ratings of FD30 and FD60.

Applications — Beyond Wood Panels

🚪 Fire Door Cores

FD30 and FD60 fire door cores in 44mm, 56mm, and 62mm thicknesses. Hotel room doors, hospital ward doors, apartment entrance doors, emergency exit doors, stairwell doors. Ox-Nar series by Steel Wood Industries.

🏗️ Fire-Rated Partitions

Fire-rated wall partitions and ceiling panels for commercial buildings, hotels, hospitals, schools, airports, shopping malls. Ox-FR series panels.

🏠 Fire-Safe Curtains & Textiles

BARDAN-treated natural fabrics for household curtains, drapery, upholstery, bedding. Prevents accidental fire spread from candles, heaters, and electrical faults.

🧸 Fire-Safe Children's Products

Fire-inhibited natural fabrics for children's toys, play equipment fabric, nursery furnishings. Zero toxic fire retardant chemicals.

🚗 Automotive Fire Safety

Fire-inhibited car interior fabrics — seats, headliners, door panels, dashboard covers. Meets automotive fire safety standards.

🚌 Transit Vehicle Interiors

Fire-safe interior fabrics for buses, trains, metro cars, trams. Meeting EN 45545 rail fire safety requirements.
